Mr. Keller and Mrs. Cooper are proud to announce the music department’s first-ever Fall concert!
It will be held at Memorial Health Pavilion in Marysville on Tuesday, October 13 and will begin at 6:30pm. Groups performing at this event include the JH concert band, Fairbanks Marching Band, HS concert choir, and Fairbanks youth choir. The concert will last approximately one hour. The concert will be free and open to the public, but all donations will benefit our fine Fairbanks musicians.
Attendance is required for all performers.
Concert attire for band members is: FMB – Full Uniform JHCB – Blue jeans on bottom and red fairbanks wear on top (tshirt, sweatshirt, or hoodie)
Youth Choir – Youth choir t-shirt and jeans HS Choir – FHSCC t-shirt and jeans
Details will be forthcoming as we draw nearer. Bring lawn chairs for seating at this event.

Who: Any student in grades 4-8 may join the choir. Members are ambassadors of Fairbanks Local Schools and are thus expected to demonstrate excellent behavior, attitude, academic performance, and school and rehearsal attendance.
What: The choir will have various performance opportunities throughout the school year. This is a great learning opportunity for the students and a great way to serve our community.
When: Choir will take place throughout the school year in Mrs. Cooper’s music room. A parent meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, August 25that 7pm in FES cafeteria. Choir will start on Thursday, August 27th. There will be a voice check just to see where the student’s voice is currently. This is NOT an audition. Visit the blog for the recording of My Country ‘Tis of Thee.
Where: The choir will rehearse Tuesday and Thursday after school (3:15-4:30) in the music room. There will be a variety of performance opportunities throughout the school year that will occur in various locations. Wednesday rehearsals may be added in preparation for upcoming concerts if needed. Please check the schedule closely.
Why: Children involved in choir learn proper singing technique, the importance of responsibility, and teamwork. Singing exercises our lungs. It tones up our intercostal muscles and our diaphragm. There is an increase in self-esteem and confidence. Singing is useful as a stress reducer. Choir enables you to meet more people. Choir brings people together and encourages a sense of community. It offers opportunity for giving and receiving positive feedback and lastly, it is a forum for fun & laughter!
What you will need:
-A black 1″ binder with a clear plastic front cover.
-Concert Uniform: choir t-shirt, black pants, and jeans
-Snack for after school (please keep it quick and concise)
-A positive attitude, a love for music, and an open mind!!!
